• Central air conditioners. A central AC unit is a type of unit placed on a concrete slab outside the home or on the roof. Ducts pull air from inside the home, cool it, and return it indoors. It may be combined with heating coils or furnaces inside the home to create a whole-home system.
• Mini-split/ductless AC units. Homes that are not equipped with ductwork may be good choices for ductless mini-split systems. This system features a compressor and condenser outside with indoor air handlers mounted on the wall that circulate cool air into the home. Each room has its own air handler, allowing for independent temperature control.
